PUPILS from Thirsk School pushed a select band of Styx Hockey Club stars all the way in a 5-3 challenge match defeat.
The Styx team consists of experienced men’s hockey players, including former Olympians and international and county level players, who play against school teams across the region.
The Styx line-up boasted two ex-international players, including ex-Olympian Paul Bolland who won 99 caps for Great Britain.
Harry Collinson, Thirsk School captain, said: "It’s a good opportunity to learn from more experienced players. What surprised me was how simple their technique is, but how effective it is.
"I’m happy with the score but I have a feeling they took it easy on us."
