A SPORTING hat-trick is being toasted by Headlands Primary School in Haxby.

A team of Year 5 and 6 pupils won Haxby Netball Club’s 28th annual primary school tournament at Ethel Ward Playing Fields.

Headlands came out on top in the eight team competition with 28 points, only denied a maximum haul of 30 points after a draw with runners-up Ralph Butterfield.

The netball team have also won through to represent York in the North Yorkshire Games at Queen Margaret’s School in Escrick on Sunday, July 7.

There was also success for the school’s Year 3 and 4 tennis team, who won the York area final and will now represent the city in the North Yorkshire Games at the David Lloyd Centre on Sunday, July 7.

And the treble was completed by Headlands’ Year 5 and 6 footballers, who have been invited to take part in a tournament at Woodlesford Primary School in Leeds.

The youngsters will compete against the likes of Leeds Schoolboys and Liverpool Schoolboys today.
