Rowntree Park claimed a crucial win after a dramatic third tie comeback clinched a seesaw duel against David Lloyd in the Tyke Petroleum Men’s Tennis League.

A tremendous final 8-4 by captain Ian MacAulay and Nils Morozs against Lloyd’s Jan Dyl and Ben Orton, was key to Park snatching a vital 56-52 win, to keep their chances of the league title very much alive.

Phil Langley’s return rattled Dunnington as hosts Wigginton plunged the 2009 champions deeper into relegation peril. In division two, there were three points and 30 games from all three Copmanthorpe pairs, as the leaders trounced Bishopthorpe 90-18.

Wilberfoss turned around Sutton’s first round 3 for 22, for a 37-35 (3-3) lead going into the last round. A stupendous final 8-4 rubber by Sutton’s Louis Los and Sam Hitchenor against Foss duo John Huffington and John Rennison, sealed a tight 55-53 win for the derby visitors.

In division four, Poppleton 3’s Pete and James Moss were frustrated as their unbeaten 2½-24 went to waste in an 8-4 reverse at home to Starbeck 2.

York 1 broke the 100-point barrier after 3-25 from captain Pete Goodall and Paul Whurr paved an 8-4 home success in division three. Harlow won by the biggest margin this season, posting a 98-10 home victory in division four against York 3.

Boston Spa 2 are the latest leaders of a topsy-turvy division five, after a fine 10½-point win at title-contenders Riccall. Matt Lewis and Jordan Gregory maxed for 24 games. A rare Matt Ward appearance resulting in 3-30 with Ryan Gale, hauled Strensall a half-point above hosts Dunnington 2.

Stamford Bridge 2’s game-in-hand closed the gap on leaders Cliffe to ten points in division six.

Steve Walker and James Chambers were again a class apart for their opponents, New Earswick. Three straight wins from Sheriff Hutton took them to third place after an unbeaten 2½-22 from Louis Cox and Harry Abnett at Heworth 2.
