YORK Cycling City Races, which include a Revenge Of The Ouse triathlon and a Brompton Team Challenge, for teams from local businesses who will race in fancy dress on folding Brompton bikes, will take place this year on July 25.

The event, organised by Cycling City York, in partnership with Clifton Cycling Club and British Cycling, will feature 12 different races, including races for younger cyclists involving local schools, a family event and a race for disabled cyclists.

Visit York's chief executive Gillian Cruddas expects the event will bring thousands of visitors to the city.

“York is fast gaining a reputation as one of the best cities for cycling in the UK and we are second only to Cambridge in terms of numbers of residents who cycle per population.

“There are more cycling trails, guided rides and hire facilities in and around York than ever before. Events such as this will help us to raise York's profile nationally and internationally as a superb place to cycle and enjoy the great outdoors,” she said.
