THIRSK and Sowerby Harrier runner Gary Dunn clocked an impressive 31 minutes and 49 seconds in the Dewsbury 10k.

That earned Dunn second prize in the V40 category. Iain Milner had an excellent run to finish 229th in 41:36, knocking more than a minute off his previous best time. Jill Knight ran well to come 342nd in 45:09 with Ian Codling 670th in 56:21 and Marian Codling 775th in 64:41.

Angela Hall was the club’s sole female competitor in the latest North Yorkshire cross country fixture at Acklam, where she finished 17th out of 47 in 23:38.

A good men’s contingent saw Richard Hall coming 13th in 38:28, Walter Busuttil 23rd in 39:49, Phil Utley 29th in 40:39, Merv Burn 51st in 43:02, Rob Burn 56th in 44:47, Ken Evitt 81st in 49:30, Ernie Huck 90th in 51:02 and Phillip Craig 99th in 65:04.

One of the club’s newest members, Paul Atkinson, who joined after winning the Norman Smith Memorial Trophy in the Thirsk 10 Road Race, had a superb run to finish 53rd out of 282 runners in the Muddy Boots 10k at Ripon, his first race in club colours.

Pete Wilkin found conditions dry at Sutton Park, Birmingham, for the national cyclo-cross championships to bag an excellent bronze medal in the V50 category.
