THREE-TIME Olympian Chris Tomlinson, a former world indoor and European medallist in the long jump, visited York St John University’s ever-improving sports’ site to say hello to students from the university’s athletics club and join in a training session.
Middlesbrough-born Tomlinson, who won silver at the World Indoor Championships in 2008 and bronze in the European Championships in 2010 and is the British indoor and outdoor long jump record holder, was at York St John as part of their athletics Sportivate project, a Lottery-funded London 2012 legacy scheme to boost sports participation.
Over the last two years, York St John and its sports clubs have worked with North Yorkshire Sport to deliver more than 20 Sportivate projects.
