The name is Bond – gains Bond on the Rive Ouse Young Archie Bond caught the biggest fish of the day to win a junior angling competition run as part of York’s Festival of the Rivers earlier this week.

Bond won not only his under-12s category with his catch of 5lb 15oz but the entire competition, as Luke Bond won in the 12-16 age group with a 15oz fish and Dominic Thompson brought in the only catch of the day in the 16 to 18 category, weighing in at 7oz.

It was a day where the youngsters came out on top, as the second biggest fish of the day, weighing over 1lb, was also caught by an under-12, Jack Thompson.

The event, held on the New Walk section of the River Ouse, is sponsored by York City Council and run by the York & District Amalgamation of Anglers and was originally due to take place in July, but was cancelled due to the embankment being flooded.

Trophies were given out to the winners by members of the council, as well as a prize of vouchers for a local fishing tackle shop.
