NORTH Yorkshire is set to host what is understood to be the first-ever darts/angling competition on these shores.

The event, which will be held on Saturday, August 10, is being organised by York Darts Promotions, who are hoping to attract a minimum of 32 entrants and a maximum of up to 64.

Redwood Park, near Huby, will stage the fishing element of the tournament, sponsored by York Tackle of Badger Hill, from 9am to 2pm.

The action will then switch to Huntington WMC for the darts with registration at 6pm for a 6.30pm start.

There will be winning individual and blind pairs’ prizes based on an accumulated points basis.

The same partners who are drawn together for the angling will also team up during the darts contest with England arrows international and 2012 British Open champion Martin “The Assassin” Atkins having already confirmed his participation.

An entry fee of £25 will include fishing fees and a buffet supper and anybody interested should phone Neil Hart on 07921 128063 or email neilhartydp@hotmail.co.uk with the closing date Monday, July 15.
