INSPIRED by a mighty six from Mick Wilcockson, York RI ‘A’ lead Coneysthorpe ‘A’ by six points at the top of the York Table Tennis League first division.

Wilcockson was in supreme form winning all of his six singles matches for RI in a 9-1 win over Holgate ‘A’ and a 6-4 conquest of Coneysthorpe ‘B’.

Coneysthorpe ‘A’, who have a game in hand over the leaders, defeated University ‘A’ 9-1 after maximums from Martin Lowe and James Rule.

Holgate WMC ‘B’ took the doubles to win their top of division two clash with Shepherds ‘A’ by 6-4.

Martin Hood and Mick Kenyon won two each for Holgate, while Nathan Taylor and Andy Fletcher won two each for Shepherds.

Holgate trail their rivals by a point but have a match in hand.

Shepherds ‘B’ had two 8-2 wins, against Holgate ‘C’ and Tramways, with Ian Williams winning six out of six.

In division three, Bootham CC ‘E’ are two points ahead of Thornton-le-Clay after a resounding 9-1 win over York RI ‘G’, with Pete Corner and Ray Mitchell winning their singles matches.

Ivan Guilliatt won his three singles to help York RI ‘F’ defeat Bootham CC ‘F’ 7-3.

Holgate WMC ‘E’ and York RI ‘H’ are tied at the top of division four and pulling clear of the rest.

Holgate beat Crescent ‘G’ 6-4 and Crescent ‘F’ 8-2. Tom Lines won five of his six singles.

The RI aces defeated bottom club, newcomers Wigginton & Haxby, 8-2, helped by maximums from Paul Greenwood and John Mothersill.
