HAXBY Shotokan Karate Club are staging a free family fun day at Wigginton Recreation Hall in Haxby on Sunday, August 19.
The event, from 11am to 4pm, will include karate-themed activities including ‘punch a black belt’, free karate classes for ages five and above, karate demonstrations, a free self-defence class for women, refreshments and a barbecue.
Places in the karate and self-defence classes are limited, so booking in advance is recommended.
The barbecue will be served from 12.30pm to 1.30pm and tickets must be bought in advance by phoning 07583 249115. Tickets cost just £2.50 for children and £3.50 for adults. Under-12s must be accompanied by an adult.

Club training sessions are held at the Recreation Hall on Mondays and Thursdays from 7pm to 9pm.
