Clifton ‘A’ continued their excellent form in mixed one of the York Badminton League with a 9-0 win at Shepherds.
Roger Martin and Lisa McClaren played well for Shepherds without any success and their team are now relegated despite some gritty displays.
York RI Monday/Wednesday ‘B’ scored a 7-2 win at St John in mixed one after five of the rubbers went to a deciding end.
Dave Preece and Alex Darlington were the top Institute pair with three hard-fought wins, including a 12-21, 23-21, 21-11 success over Adam Harrison and Nikki Hainsworth, who claimed both campus wins.
Clifton ‘C’ claimed second place and promotion to mixed one after a 5-4 win over Selby Jubilee ‘A’.
James Barrett and Lynn Redman took two Jubilee wins in a good display but lost out 25-23, 16-21, 18-21 to the top home pair of Mel Knowles and Matt Love.
Fulfordgate took a giant step towards promotion to mixed two with a 5-4 win at rivals Huntington ‘A’.
Hazel Winfield and Mat Hobman made the difference once again with three Fulfordgate wins to maintain their 100 per cent record this season.
Mike Miller and Theresa Roberts-Hardy took two Huntington wins but lost out 21-17, 12-21, 16-21 to Winfield and Hobman.
Rowntrees played well to score a 5-4 home win over a strong Selby/Drax ‘B’ team in mixed three.
Huntington ‘B’ emphasised their second place in mixed four after a 7-2 win at Selby Jubilee ‘B’.
Paul Moisley and Carolyn Arden swung the match with three wins.
