Clifton ‘B’ kept their grip on the ladies division two title with a comprehensive 9-0 win at Selby Jubilee in the York Badminton League.

New pairing of Zoe Cook and Ronnie Davison set the standard for the visitors with three straight wins for 126-57.

In ladies one, Clifton ‘A’ visited Selby Drax and were good value for a 7-2 win. Karen Anderson and Heather Clark were best for Clifton, while Lisa Ward and Michelle Hall pushed hard for the Selby club.

Clifton ‘B’ are aiming for mid-table safety in men’s one and helped their cause with an easy 9-0 home win over Selby/Drax ‘A’.

Dave Woods and Matt Love set the tempo for the team with three straight wins for 126-82.

University Students ‘A’ moved into third place after an 8-1 home win over RI Tuesday/Thursday ‘A’.

James Hor and Ricky Kanabar took their allocation with consummate ease, building a return of 126-75 in straight sets. Matt Hitchens and Soren Stendevad stopped the whitewash with a 21-18, 21-19 conquest of John Sinclair and Sam Teasdale.

Copmanthorpe had mixed fortunes in men’s three by beating Selby Jubilee 8-1 away and losing out 6-3 at home to RI Monday/Wednesday ‘C’.

Ian Thompson and P O’Toole starred for the visitors against Jubilee with three wins for 144-109.

M Poulter and S Poulter were best for the Institute against Copmanthorpe with three straight wins for 143-116.

RI Monday/Wednesday ‘B’ visited old rivals Clifton ‘B’ in mixed one and were in good form to register a 5-4 win.

Shelagh Barker and Kevin Davison took three Clifton wins for a return of 165-140, but Dave Preece and Joyce Petch sealed the away win with a last rubber 19-21, 21-15, 22-20 success over Lucy Smith and Richard McIntosh.

RI Monday/Wednesday ‘A’ breezed to a 9-0 win at Riverside ‘A’ in mixed one.

Kate Jackson and Chris Hunt led the Institute way, recording a straight games maximum for 126-56.

University Students ‘B’ lead mixed two after an 8-1 home win over Riverside ‘B’. Tim Green and Laura Suddaby were best for the campus with a return of 136-95 from three wins. Debbie Cooper and John Fowler played well for the visitors and picked up the consolation.

Selby/Drax ‘B’ entertained Knavesmire in mixed three and were untroubled in scoring a 9-0 win.

Gayle Bradley and John Prickett led the line for the home team with a season’s best of three straight wins for a total of 126-91.

Pocklington visited Middlethorpe in mixed four and won 5-4 after three rubbers went to a deciding end. Derek Burt and Yvonne Neave swung the match for the visitors with a superb display that saw them take all three including a match-clinching 21-15, 17-21, 21-16 victory over Martin Waller and Helen Williams.

Huntington ‘B’ improved their promotion chances from mixed four after a 7-2 home win over RI Tuesday/Thursday ‘C’ and an 8-1 win at Fulfordgate ‘B’.

Paul Moisley and Carolyn Arden claimed maximums for Huntington in both matches to register a six-rubber total of 252-129.
