RI Monday/Wednesday ‘A’ ladies went posted an 8-1 victory over their ‘B’ team club-mates in ladies division one of the York Badminton League.

Nicky Coggins and Joyce Petch were untroubled in taking three straight wins for 126-60. Alison Hyde and Trish Fowler stopped the whitewash with a three-end win over Joy and Sophie Wilson.

RI Tuesday/Thursday ‘A’ were good value for a 6-3 home win over Riverside in men’s division one.

Matt Hitchens and Soren Stendevad clinched the match in the eighth rubber when they beat Ian McInlay and Andy Newby 13 and 19.

Kevin Davison and Dennis Cleary, pictured, were best for Clifton ‘B’ as their team beat RI Tues/Thurs ‘B’.

Cleary and Davison returned 126-64 from three straight wins and included a 15 and 12 success over Chris Wan and Mike Powell, who grabbed the Institute’s consolation.

RI Mon/Tue ‘A’ are still unbeaten after an 8-1 home win over Selby/Drax ‘A’. Mark Harris and Ollie Cohen have forged a useful partnership for the Institute and again topped the averages with 126-72 in straight sets.

Tadcaster ’86 suffered two 5-4 defeats in men’s two, losing out at Selby Jubilee ‘A’ and then at home to a resurgent Shepherd’s team.

James Dawson and James Barrett swung the match for Jubilee with three wins for 126-76, while Paul Nichol and James Pearson were best for Shepherds with three vital wins for a total of 145-94.

Fulfordgate lost their unbeaten men’s three record when they entertained University Students ‘C’ and lost 7-2 after a lacklustre display. Stephen Hallett and Sam Teasdale put in their best performance this season with three wins for 140-108.

Clifton ‘A’ scored two 8-1 wins in mixed one to keep the pressure on league leaders RI Mon/Wed ‘A’.

George and Karen Anderson starred against Shepherds with three straight wins for 126-79, which included a 12 and 16 triumph over Claire Forth and Paul Nichol who picked up the visitors’ consolation.

Daniel Woolfson and Karen Broster were best for Clifton ‘A’ against Riverside ‘A’ with three straight wins for 126-64.
