Baillie Watterson and Tim Green were the best players for the campus team with three wins to emphasise their opening pair status.

Daniel Woolfson and Dave Rogers combined well for Clifton ‘A’ as they beat their ‘B’ team club-mates 8-1 at St Peter’s School.

Woolfson and Rogers returned a 128-101 total from three wins, including a 22-20, 21-17 success over Pete Minnikin and Stephen Colley, who took the ‘B’ team’s consolation win.

RI Tuesday/Thursday ‘C’ snatched a 5-4 home win in a close men’s two match with Clifton ‘C’.

Brian Morley and Ian Sinker took the match-winning maximum, but Tony Kirkman and Bill Clemitt made sure in the final rubber.

RI Monday/Wednesday ‘A’ proved the selection committee correct with an 8-1 win over their ‘B’ team in mixed one.

Chris Hunt and Kate Jackson top-scored with a three-rubber total of 145-101, while Mike Corley and Alex Darlington were the top ‘B’ team pair after picking up the consolation.

University Students ‘A’ proved to be too strong for Riverside ‘A’ in mixed one and ran out 9-0 winners at Poppleton Leisure Centre.

James Hor and Liz McFrozean were in sparkling form for the Heslington side with an excellent 126-64 return from straight wins.

McFrozean and Hor also starred in the Student ‘A’ team’s 6-3 away win over a gutsy Shepherds team.

The campus top pair returned 139-110, including a 13-21, 21-17, 21-12 over the reliable home pair of James Pearson and Lisa McClaren.

Clifton ‘A’ also managed an 8-1 win over their ‘B’ team in a mixed one fixture.

George Noble and Karen Anderson headed the returns, with 126-86 in straight games.

Kevin Davison and Qian Noble took the ‘B’ team saver with a 22-20, 17-21, 21-17 win over Gill McIntosh and Erik Wagenaars.
