A QUARTET of York cricketers starred for Yorkshire Over-50s as the White Rose county won the 15th Sir Garry Sobers Masters Festival in Barbados.
The Tykes finished as the top overseas team, edging out Warwickshire on run-rate.
The Yorkshire team included four York & District Senior League players – Mick Kenyon, of Dringhouses, Acomb’s Richard Sykes, Heworth’s Trevor Walton and John Flintoff, of Sessay.
Each of the British teams played five games against local sides in a league format. Yorkshire finished level with Warwickshire on two wins. Sykes was one of the top run-scorers, while Kenyon was among the best bowlers.
Flintoff and Kenyon were then chosen for a UK select XI to play the Barbados Legends at Kensington Oval. Flintoff retired on 50 and Barbados won by six wickets, despite Kenyon’s six-over spell of 1-12.
