THE City of York squad had a number of medal winners when New Earswick & District Indoor Bowls Club hosted the Special Olympics Yorkshire & Humberside Regional Indoor Bowls Singles competition.
A total of 32 bowlers took part, coming from Pudsey, Wakefield, York and the Northern region, competing across eight round-robin divisions.
City of York’s Chris McPherson took silver in division three, Andrew Bayson won bronze in division four, and Will Sharman was unbeaten to win gold in division five.
First-time competitor Margaret Frost won an impressive silver in division eight, while Ashley Shaw, Richard Scaife and Diana Ward were fourth in divisions six, seven and eight respectively.
Medals and ribbons were presented by Sam Walton, of sponsor Acomb Travel, and New Earswick IBC president Gordon Fratson. New Earswick club bowlers provided the umpire, markers and rink-side support.
