RESEARCHER Paul Thorpe is looking for any information local sports enthusiasts can shed on the history of York’s knockout cricket competitions.

Thorpe is particularly interested in anybody with memories of the Myers & Burnell Cup, which ceased to exist ten years ago after almost a century of competition.

The winners of the tournament have all now been chronicled by Thorpe, but he is still looking to confirm the identities of the runners-up in the finals from 1920 to 1925, 1927 to 1932, 1935 to 1945, 1949 to 1950, 1954, 1956 to 1957, 1964, 1966, 1969 and 1972.

Thorpe would also like to hear from anyone able to reveal the 1931 and 1993 Senior Charity Cup final runners-up to York Station Staff and Heworth respectively, as well as the 1931 Junior Cup runners-up to Scarcroft, both 1987 finalists and the runners-up from 1988 to 1993.

Anybody able to help with the above information, can email pntethorpe@gmail.com
