ACOMB Hockey Club started their new league campaign in fine fashion.

Liz Harrison netted twice as newly-promoted Acomb Ladies started life in Yorkshire League division one as 3-0 victors at Driffield II.

A dominant start was rewarded 20 minutes in as George Wood self-passed and slotted past the keeper.

It wasn’t until the final 10 minutes, however, that victory was secured, when Harrison deftly deflected home a Hannah Yoward cross.

Harrison doubled her tally in the final minute from a Rachel Robertson pass.

Matt Dickenson gave Acomb Men I a landmark victory over Tadcaster Magnets, emerging 2-1 winners at Energise in Yorkshire League division two.

Ryan Smith opened the scoring after 20 minutes from a penalty corner, but the visitors soon drew level with a close-range effort.

Acomb had a penalty saved, but Dickenson netted from the resultant play.

Skipper Johnny Brown scored a hat-trick as Acomb Men II ran out 6-0 winners at Ben Rhydding V in division five north.

Newcomer Ben Kerry opened the scoring early on, and, minutes later, Brown bagged his first.

Two more goals followed before the half ended, courtesy of Anthony Daley and Owen Wilkie.

Both sides were competitive in the second period, but Brown’s second and third goals put the game to bed.
