YORK Cycleworks Women's Road Race took place on a new circuit at Flaxton on a perfect day for cycling.

Setting off from Flaxton Village Hall, the ladies blasted around a five-lap, 6.3-mile circuit taking in the Stittenham Hills, Sheriff Hutton and West Lilling.

After staying together for the first lap, a split appeared on the second. The lead bunch, including York Cycleworks' Laura Tissiman, constantly looked to make a break but without success. This meant a bunch sprint for the finish, with Georgia Bullard, of Team Jadan Weldtite presented by Vive le Velo, taking the win from Gro Marketing Cliff Pratt Racing's Rebecca Longthorp and Lousie Scupham, also from Team Jaden Weldtite.

Results: 1 Georgia Bullard (Team Jadan Weldtite presented by Vive le Velo), 2 Rebecca Longthorp (Gro Marketing Cliff Pratt Racing), 3 Louise Scupham (Team Jadan Weldtite presented by Vive le Velo), 4 Lily Greenhalgh (Team 22 WRT), 5 Gem Atkinson (Sigma Sport), 6 Melissa Greaves (All Terrain Cycles), 7 Eileen Dempsey (Prima Team Racing), 8 Debra Charlesworth (Gro Marketing Cliff Pratt Racing), 9 Jo Jarvis Knottingley (VELO), 10 Cheryl Vaughan (Beeston Cycling Club), 11 Elizabeth Burrows (SunSport Velo Race Team), 12 Laura Tissiman (York Cycleworks), 13 Julia Davis (Valley Striders Cycling Club), 14 Miriam Jessert (Tyneside Vagabonds), 15 Amanda Leach (Gro Marketing Cliff Pratt Racing).
