CITY of York's men gave the perfect response to a difficult defeat a week earlier with a superb 6-3 win against Chester.

The first goal came from a superbly placed drag-flick from Alex Cockram into the top left corner.

Soon after, Cockram doubled York's lead and City continued to gain momentum with some great spells of possession. However this attacking intent led to York being exposed at the back, leading to two counter-attack goals from Chester.

York fought back after some more Chester pressure, and Jack Purrington executed a well-placed finish minutes before half-time.

York looked as though they would be going into the break with the lead, but Chester converted a controversial short corner just before the break to make it 3-3.

Once York had weathered an early storm, they were able to find the back of the net three more times to put the game out of Chester's reach, with Purrington and Ant Bull (2) on the mark.

York IIs grabbed another three points to extend their unbeaten run to five games. This time it was Boston Spa who were the unfortunate opponents.

York tried to play their usual passing game but struggled and Boston Spa capitalised when they intercepted the ball and broke the deadlock to make it 1-0.

The second half began and immediately York levelled inside two minutes with Patrick Herriott slotting past the keeper.

York were ahead when a short corner was initially saved by the Boston Spa keeper, allowing Rob Newton to net the rebound.

York stayed strong and saw out the game to take home the three points.

The third team hosted Thirsk & Malton, where two early goals from the visitors rocked City.

The home side stayed in the game and were rewarded before half-time when Ben Foster netted to make it 2-1.

Stern words at the interval from City’s captain, Chris Dutton, saw a greatly improved performance as they created chance after chance. However, Thirsk held on to take the points.

York Vs were beaten 2-1 by Acomb, with Danny Vaughan their scorer in this derby clash.

Elsewhere, Keith Wilson and Bryce Tuckett were on target as City of York VIs were beaten 7-2 at Thirsk & Malton IIs.

York VII's 15-game unbeaten run came to an abrupt end against relegation-threatened Boston Spa.

York started brightly but Boston took the lead 15 minutes in before adding two more goals after the break.

Due to other results, York were promoted to division four with two games to spare.

There was an early morning game for the York VIIIs development side against Tadcaster.

Zach Pierson opened the scoring for York, with Pete Richardson and Ali Birch adding goals two and three.

Tadcaster pulled one back before Chris Allerton made it 4-1 at the break.

In the second half, Pierson made it 5-1 before Tadcaster netted again. However, Pierson had the final word to ensure it ended 6-2 to York.

City of York IXs faced Boston Spa IVs, and were 3-0 behind at the break.

York got back into the game with goals from Matthew Bedford and Henry Cadogan.

However, with 10 minutes to go Boston finished the scoring with a fourth from a short corner.
