CITY of York Ladies IIs battled out a thrilling 3-3 draw with Leeds Adel IIs in their Yorkshire Premier League clash.

Adel took charge in the first half with a soft goal as York left them too much room through the middle.

However, York pulled it back to 1-1 with a great penalty corner strike from Faye Chapman, which was converted on the rebound by Lily Rowntree.

Goalkeeper and player of the match Alice Cullen kept York in contention with some superb saves. Adel then scored with their own deflected penalty corner, though, to make it 2-1 at half-time.

In the second half, York made plenty of chances with some great passing moves instigated by birthday girl Jess Harbord and Emma Dalglish down the wings. The forwards, including Corrine Wray and Celia Prentice, worked hard but found it difficult to get the breakthrough.

Adel pulled away again with a goal, but within a minute Vicky Skilton pulled one back with an angled shot from the left.

The equaliser came from a reverse flick during a penalty corner scored by Jess Pidgeon.

York IIIs slipped to a 2-0 home defeat to Selby in their weekend match.

The visitors settled into the game faster, scoring a goal within minutes of the pushback.

York worked hard during an end-to-end first half. Jacqui Birch kept the ball moving out of defence, through Jenny Beckett to Molly Petherbridge, Katy Hall and player of the match Abby Collins.

Any scoring opportunities were denied by great keeping from the Selby defence.

The second half started the same as the first with the Selby attack wrong-footing the York defence and the ball hitting the backboard.

Solid defending from Jenni Fitton, Jess Hall and Heather MacDonald kept any further attacks out of the goal, but York were unable to break the deadlock.

York Ladies IVs faced a local derby against Tadcaster Magnets.

York took control after the opening 15 minutes with plenty of play in the opposition half.

Particularly good skills were demonstrated by Caitlin Rore and Heather MacDonald and quick feet by Rebecca Feetenby up front, with play controlled from the central midfield by Anna Good.

In the second half, York continued to attack yet also defend strongly, with strength shown by Ruth Painter and Merri Tomlinson.

York defended a number of short corners but midway through the second half Tadcaster netted one to take the lead, and York were unable to respond.

York Vs travelled to top-of-the-table Bradford, who fired home an early goal despite some fantastic saves from Abi Tugwell.

Bradford converted a short corner before half-time to lead 2-0 into the break.

In the second half, a York player fell and her team-mates ran to help her, leaving Bradford to complete the scoring with a third goal.
