SIAN KLUKOWSKI scored a late winner as Acomb ladies went five points clear at the top of Yorkshire League division two ahead of this weekend's games thanks to a 2-1 victory in their rearranged midweek fixture at promotion rivals Leeds Adel.
Acomb started strongly and only great saves prevented Kerry Woods giving them the lead, Klukowski and Georgi Wood impressing in the build-up.
They took the lead on the half-hour mark, though, as Woods, with her next chance, waited for the keeper to dive and lifted the ball over her.
The Adel keeper continued to frustrate and, against the run of play, the Leeds side profited from an Acomb error to score from a counter attack.
Leeds, third in the table, were lifted and started to attack with more pace but great defensive work from Wendy Watson and Wood prevented them getting near the goal.
Then with five minutes left, Acomb reasserted themselves, Klukowski dribbling brilliantly into the 'D' and winning a short corner.
They worked it superbly and, from Woods' initial shot, Klukowski finished at the back post for a deserved win.
