CONEYSTHORPE A whitewashed bottom team Clarence B in division one of the Time Communications York & District Table Tennis League to stay 16 points clear at the top of the table.

York RI A celebrated the return of star player Richard Moss with a 9-1 demolition of Clarence A, while Jon Wooldridge and Joe Wright each won their three singles for Bootham A in their 8-2 defeat of York RI C.

Mick Wilcockson and Jake McCarthy won two each and crucially the doubles for York RI B in their 5-5 draw with Coneysthorpe B, for whom Joel Wright and Paul Young responded in kind.

In division two, despite a superb maximum from Joe Suchecki, Bootham B were edged out 6-4 by York RI E.

Mark Blackburn starred as York RI D defeated Poppleton 7-3 – Richard Collyer playing well for the villagers to defeat the dogged John Hughes.

Ryan Hood posted a fine treble against Strensall but this could not prevent York RI F going down 6-4.

Clara Bellstedt and Bob Young contributed two wins each as Clarence C defeated a plucky York RI G 6-4. Railwaymen Dave Smith and Lewis Harrison also won two singles.

Ian Williams was too good as Shepherds A defeated Bootham C 6-4 while Calum Goodwin and Ishan Bairoliya were unstoppable as University B thrashed Poppleton 9-1.

In the third division, University A remain head of affairs as an unbeaten effort from Feng Yankui was decisive in a 6-4 triumph against Bootham D. Paul Seeking played well for the losers recording two victories.

Paul Koyzra and Mick Surtees hit the heights as Shepherds B defeated Clarence E 8-2 while an unbeaten effort from Howard Broadbent was the highlight as BT B cruised to an 8-2 victory over South Bank A.

Despite a fine performance from Paul Greenwood, York T+RI H had to settle for a draw against Wigginton & Haxby A, with Roy Barker and Naz Hosseinian contributing braces.

In the fourth division, a maximum for Mark Antrobus was the highlight as leaders York RI I defeated Clarence F 6-4 in a close encounter.

A two-man Trustmarque defeated Wigginton & Haxby B 7-3 while a superb treble by Alastair Domville could not prevent Bootham E slipping to a 7-3 reversal against York RI J.

Paul Lodder and the improving John Noble starred as Clarence E recorded an 8-2 victory against University C and, finally, a treble from Nigel Baker was decisive as Shepherds C edged out University D 6-4.
