GOLFER Simon Dyson suffered fresh disappointment in the latest round of the European Tour.

The Malton & Norton ace missed the cut at the Lyoness Open, in Austria, last weekend after finishing nine over par for the first two rounds.

It was his first competition since having steroid injections in his problem left wrist.

Dyson stood at two over par after the first 18 holes, hitting four birdies and six bogies.

During his second round, he hit a double bogey at the second hole and seven further bogies - which left him joint 110th spot on the leaderboard.

Chinese golfer Ashun Wu won the competition by a single shot and, in doing so, claimed his second European Tour title.

Wu, who won last year's Volvo China Open, finished the week on 13 under par.

Spain's Adrian Otaism finished second on 12 under with Englishman Richard McEvoy equalling a career best finish in third.

Dyson, who is not involved in this weekend's US Open, now has a week to prepare for his next tournament, the BMW International Open at Gut Lärchenhof in Germany.

The six-time European tour winner missed the majority of last season due to wrist surgery and earlier this year suffered pneumonia.

His spirits were lifted at the start of the month after a return to form in the Nordea Masters in Sweden.
