THE Oaks golfer James Walker helped England beat France 14-10 on his international debut.
Walker, representing his Aughton club, was never behind in his singles match and worked his way to three-up after 12 holes at Formby Golf Club in Lancashire.
He held on to that lead through 15, before eventually finishing one-up to earn his country a point.
France have now failed to win the biennial contest for six years and Masters champion Danny Willett, who played in the 2008 tournament, sent a good-luck message to Walker and his seven colleagues.
