HEWORTH 'A' lifted the Team Knockout Cup during the presentation night for the York Conservative Clubs Carlsberg UK Snooker League season, beating Bootham 5-2.

Paul Scorfield beat Mark Hudson to put Bootham ahead but Kevin Gall, potting well, beat Matt Smith, Jordan Worobec defeated Paul Powell convincingly, compiling the highest break of the night of 51, and captain Steve Burdett enjoyed a very good victory over Paul Mahoney to give Heworth the upper hand.

Lionel Barnes pulled a frame back as he beat Nick Dyson, but Heworth clinched the cup as Gary Douglas and Clive Whyte overcame Ian Robinson and Andy Proud respectively.

The Team Knockout Cup has a new sponsor in Greene King and its representative, Mark Lonsdale, presented the cup.

The season's other awards were also presented on the night.

Roy Walker, president of the host Heworth club, presented the league winners' cup to Acomb 'A' captain Richard Lillie and the Worthington Player of the Year award to Mick Borg, who won 13 of his 15 frames played.

Borg also collected the highest break award, for his 87, presented by Paul Mahoney, representing sponsors Pasema Paving. Darren Pollard was runner-up with 71.

John and Mark Darley then presented the Eric Darley Memorial Cup, which is for the most valuable player in the Knockout Cup final, to Worobec for his 51 break.

The John Smiths-sponsored 'B' Team Cup was won by Acomb 'B', Walker presenting it to captain Steve Rodgers.

Colin Robinson presented the 'C' team Pairs Slater Cup, sponsored by Cash Registers, to Acomb 'C' captain Keith Dalby.

The Faber Shield Billiards League, sponsored by Carlsberg UK, was presented to Heworth captain Gary Rogers by Alf Appleby, who also presented the Player Of The Year gong to Heworth's Darren Clark and the Highest Break award to Rogers, for his 134, both on behalf of sponsors Cameo Engraving.

The Most Dedicated Player award went to Acomb 'B's Brian Henry.
