YORK Masters Boxing Club professional boxer Paul "Flash" Gordon will have his third fight as a professional at Elland Road, Leeds, on Friday, May 20.

Gordon, trained and managed by Glenn Banks, is so far unbeaten, having drawn his first pro bout at York Hall in Bethnal Green before out-pointing Lincoln's Aaron Robinson 40-36 in a super-middleweight contest over four three-minute rounds at The New Breed show at Elland Road last month.

The 27-year-old is to fight this time on a Mark Bateson promotion.

Said Banks: "We will be looking at a step up in opponent as Paul cruised to victory in his last fight.

"Training has already been beefed up as we have invested in established strength and conditioning trainer Danny Haugh at Jack Berry House in Malton and also had a training and sparring weekend away in Jersey in the Channel Islands."

Meanwhile, York light-welterweight prospect Danny "Tasmanian Devil" Holmes has signed a three-year pro contract with Banks - and will make his bow on the same Elland Road card.

Holmes has had on-off amateur boxing career over the last decade with York ABC, Westway ABC in Scarborough and Jorvick ABC, chalking up more than 40 bouts and winning the Yorkshire area welterweight title in his last fight.

He will be sponsored by York Building Services.

Banks said: "Danny thinks the time is right to turn professional and naturally I am excited that he has trusted me to guide his pro career."

Tickets for the May 20 show are £35 standard or £75 VIP ringside with a meal and waitress service. To buy them or get further details, phone Gordon on 07734 235230 or Holmes on 07712 435985.

Added Banks: "All support is massively appreciated."

Meanwhile, another of Banks' York Masters Boxing Club pro fighters, Luke Fash, beat home town favourite Duane Winters 38-37 on points over four thrilling three-minute rounds in Bristol at the weekend.

The featherweight contest was on a Jamie Sanigar promotion, and Fash's win included a stunning knockdown in the third round.
