ACOMB 'A' won the York Conservative Clubs Carlsberg UK Snooker League championship with a 5-2 victory over Heworth 'A' in their last match of the season.

Needing only one frame to seal the title, club stalwart Trevor Ventress was given the honour of playing first and duly obliged by beating Jordan Worobec on the black.

Borg's victory also clinched the Player of the Season award.

He won the same number of frames over the season as team-mates Lillie and Potter but he played one game fewer.

Acomb 'B' followed their 'A' team by clinching the 'B' team trophy, despite losing their final match against Heworth 'B' 4-3.

Acomb took the first two frames with Jon Milner beating John McCready and Jeff Winter conquering Ian Strickland.

But Heworth won the next three as Simon Whiteley, John Sherlock and Pete Henderson beat Kevin Ventress, Brian Henry and Andy Morgan respectively.

The title was confirmed as Nick Goodacre beat Andi Ireland, but Joe Bedford got the better of Andy Stone to give Heworth the match on the last frame.

Fulford 'A' finished runners-up to Acomb 'A', signing off with a 5-2 victory over Malton.

Tom Lewis lost the first frame for Fulford as Alan Sherry (22 break) made fewer mistakes.

But Sam Parkinson earned a victory over Steve Beal, Sam England potted well in defeating Roger Ward, and Alan Reed overcame Dominic Spiteri with good safety play to put Fulford 3-1 up.

Malton's Phil Hart edged Andy Marshall on the black but Dale Rout secured victory for Fulford taking the last frame against Dan Pawson, and they also earned a walkover as Malton again were a man short.

Bootham 'A' concluded their season with a 5-2 victory over Fulford 'B'.

Nick Parker won the first frame against Dean Smith but Fulford levelled as Phil Cook beat Rob Barron.
