FOG frustrations couldn't stop Simon Dyson from making his first cut of the European Tour year.

The York-born ace had to wait nearly three hours to get his second round at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship under way after play was delayed.

Dyson had been up since 4.30am for his planned start shortly after 7am but had to be patient until the skies cleared at the Abu Dhabi GC.

The result was a level par 72 to give the 38-year-old a midway total of three-under-par and a tie for 26th place.

He began with six straight pars before briefly surging into the top ten of the leaderboard with a birdie at the 200-yard par three seventh.

It was a followed with a bogey at the eighth and another at the tenth.

A rollercoaster ride ensued with shots gained at the par-four 11th, 13th and the par three 16th, which were counteracted by bogeys at 14 and 17.

While Dyson can ponder a full weekend, Knaresborough's John Parry was hanging on to see whether he would make the cut.

The Wetherby-based golfer followed his opening round 72 with a one-over-par 73 and was two shots adrift of the cut line when play was suspended for the day.

A double bogey seven at the par-five second ultimately proved his undoing and he also dropped shots at the third, 14th and 16th.

Birdies at seven, ten, 11 and 18 will give him something to work on should he fail to make the midway mark.

Many of the tournament's top stars were having to complete their second rounds this morning but a second consecutive 67 had England's Andy Sullivan in charge at the summit on ten-under-par.

He was a shot ahead of the American amateur champion Bryson DeChambeau, who was one shot adrift on nine under after going through the outward half of his round in one-under-par.
