NEW Earswick went down to Leeds in a topsy-turvy North Eastern Ladies League encounter.
At home, Doramy Bellwood, Kath Hardcastle, Irene Warrington and Majorie Watson were always a shot or two behind against P Walton and eventually lost 19-14.
Lynn Page, Kay Hutchinson, Moyra Headley and Kath Sykes - despite scoring a four at the sixth end - were 15-6 down after nine against B Whearet but won four of the next five ends, including grabbing a six and a four, to take an 18-16 lead after 14.
A topsy-turvy game then saw them lose four of the next five and they trailed 22-20 with only two ends to go.
They managed to win them both and came through 24-22.
At Leeds, Margaret Pearson, Denise Elliott, Sally Domville and Monica Morgan were never really in the hunt and only managed to win seven ends in their 23-12 defeat to H Knapton.
In the most amazing game of the weekend, Linda Tordoff, Gemma Broadhead, Carol Williams and Annette Prosser were 12-4 behind against J Jones after 12 ends with every one resulting in a single.
Earswick then scored seven shots at the next three ends to lead 11-9 after 15 only to lose the next four to be 16-11 behind with two ends to play. They scored a five and a four so, despite winning only eight of the 20 ends, claimed a 20-16 victory.
