NEW Earswick Ospreys narrowly lost to North Cave Maroon in the Yorkshire Over-55s League.
At home, Dave Hutchinson, Kevin Potter, Alwyn Anderson and Terry Bellwood dropped a five at the second end but won the other six of the first seven ends to lead 8-5.
They stayed in front for the rest of the match and took 14 of the 21 ends, but only won 24-20.
Vic Reed, Dave Thompson, Bob Barrett and Gary Stockton were 8-8 after 11 ends but went on to win 20-11.
At Cave, Ray Boyes, Doug Carr, Vic Thompson and Brian Birch picked up only a two at the fourth end as they trailed 15-2 after eight. They fought back and won the last five ends to lose 21-18.
Martin Stubbs, Dave Moorhouse, Jim Ellis and Bruce Dobson were always struggling and lost 25-12, as Earswick were beaten 77-74.
New Earswick Falcons picked up ten points when they met Selby Swans.
Dave Imeson, Barry Harrison, Ralph Tiplady and Bill Waldie led B Roberts 14-8 after 12 ends but only won three of the last nine as they hung on for a 20-16 win.
Graham Lockwood, Mick Stannard, Bob Edwards and Barry Johnson, with the help of a five, two fours and a three, led J Harrand 19-13 after 13 ends only for the Swans to score two threes to level. But the Falcons pulled out to a 25-22 success.
Bob Elliot, Paul Murray Dave Elcock and Tony Abbot picked up nine shots in three ends to lead A Smith 13-3 after seven. Despite dropping eight shots in the next three ends, they ran out 28-17 winners.
Dave Sykes, Rod Walker, Dick Osguthorpe and Mick Head matched T Savill shot for shot in a close game and, with never more that two shots between the teams, the Falcons led 19-18 with two ends to play only to drop two singles and lose 20-19.
New Earswick and Harrogate met in both the Denny Plate and the Yorkshire League.
In the Plate, Imeson, Colin Ellis, Colin Pickup and Waldie picked up a five to lead D Small 11-2 after six ends but only scored one shot in the next seven to trail 13-12.
They levelled at 17-17 after 19 but trailed again before scoring a two to win 19-18.
Lockwood, Walker, Elcock and Head trailed 20-9 after 16 ends and slipped to a 24-13 defeat.
At Harrogate, Elliot, Sykes, Barry Johnson and Tiplady led 7-0 after three ends and 14-6 after 11 but found themselves 15-14 down three ends later after a dropping a six.
They regained a two-shot lead at 17-15 but fell to a 23-19 loss.
Gordon Fratson, Dave Kemode, Brian Gray and Andrew Fothergill were 8-0 down after five ends, but, even though they were never level through the game, they scored a two on the last to draw 20-20.
