TOM LEWIS routed Chris Nicholson as Fulford ‘A’ beat Acomb ‘B’ 6-1 in the York Conservative Clubs’ Carlsberg UK Snooker League.

He struck breaks of 25 and 57 as Nicholson only hit the cueball twice in the match.

Fulford’s other winners were Glen Mountain (20 break), who beat Andy Stone, while Jamie Husband saw off John Winter.

Dale Rout defeated Brian Henry and Jim Lee was victorious against John Ashwell. Sam Wass saw off Jon Milner and Acomb’s only success came from Kevin Ventress against Sam England.

Acomb ‘A’ dug out a hard fought 4-3 victory at Fulford 'B’.

The home side raced to a 2-0 lead with Bob Smith inflicting a rare defeat on Dan Potter and Joe Kimbling winning on the black over Nick Marchant.

But Acomb then took control, winning the next three frames as Keith Thornhill (27 break), Paul Holmes and Phil Carlton defeated Dean Smith, John Adcock, and Andy Ogley respectively.

The last two frames were shared as Phil Cooke, for Fulford, beat Richard Lillie and Acomb’s Mick Borg defeated Jim Rollinson.

Heworth ‘A’ edged past Bootham ‘B’ 4-3.

Bootham got off to a good start as Paul Scorfield beat Jordan Worobec but Heworth hit back, winning the next three frames, as Kevin Gall conquered Ian Robinson, followed by Gary Douglas over Matt Smith and Mark Winskill against Andy Proud.

Bootham struck back with the next two – Paul Mahoney beating Nick Dyson and Lionel Barnes proving too much for Clive Whyte.

Steve Burdett clinched the last frame for Heworth when triumphing over Paul Powell.

There was again a close finish when Bootham ‘A’ entertained Heworth ‘B’ – the home side narrowly coming through 4-3.

Jeff Brown (28 break) led the way for Bootham when beating Ian Strickland but Carl De Pasquale hit back against Andy Whynn.

Bootham took the next two frames as Rob Barron beat John Sherlock and Tim Fillingham (32 break) prevailed over Wayne Pullan.

Peter Henderson pulled a frame back, defeating John Lloyd, before Bootham’s Barry cleared the last three colours to pip Martin Johnson.

That was despite Johnson earlier enjoying breaks of 20 and 22.

The drama continued to the last frame as Colin Robinson looked in command until Andy Ireland took the last four colours to claim the frame for Heworth.
