GOLFER John Parry is set to be back in European Tour action this week after surviving the "Chamber of Horrors".
The Knaresborough-born player finished tied-72nd at the US Open, staged at Chambers Bay in Washington State, after a final round of 79 and is due to travel to Germany for the BMW International Open in Munich, which starts on Thursday.
After making the cut on the number at five-over-par on Friday in the 115th staging of the famous competition, Wetherby-based Parry produced a fantastic third round 71 to surge up the leaderboard going into the final day's action.
But as Jordan Spieth lifted the trophy as he continued his quest to win all four Major championships, following his victory at the Masters in April, Parry found the going a great deal more difficult on a course which attracted withering criticism from professionals like Ian Poulter and Billy Horschel.
He began his round with five consecutive bogeys and managed only five pars. But, having succeeded whether Tiger Woods, Martin Kaymer and Graeme McDowell failed in making the cut, Parry can go to the Golfclub Munchen Eichenried with confidence.
His performance at the US Open also boosted his world ranking - moving him up 24 places to 442.
