YORK Lokos made it five league wins on the bounce with a deserved, but hard fought, 20-6 victory over a well drilled Ossett Trinity in Yorkshire Mens League division three.

After a cagey opening quarter it was the visitors who took the lead with a converted try following a lapse in the Lokos otherwise solid defence, only for the York side to gain good field position allowing stand off Liam Watling to squeeze through a gap and score a fine try, Watling converting.

The rest of the half saw more pressure from the Lokos but they were unable to capitalise and the teams were tied at 6-6 at the break.

The second half again witnessed the hosts in dominant mood and they soon hit the front with a Watling penalty, shortly followed by the move of the match.

With the Lokos just inside their own forty metres, flying winger Stu Dickenson got the message to Watling that the Trinity full back was out of position. It allowed Watling to deliver a momentous down-field kick for Dickenson to win the foot race and pounce on the ball for a spectacular score.

Within minutes, it was the turn of left winger Josh Johnson to add to the try tally with a well-taken individual effort. Ricky James added two penalties to secure the points.

Heworth 'A' are still looking for their first win in the Yorkshire Mens Entry League following a 52-14 home defeat by Wetherby Bulldogs.

The Villagers, with seven new players, lacked cohesion against a well drilled team who led 28-4 at the break.

The second period followed a similar pattern with the visitors always on top.

Heworth scored tries through Johnny Jackson and debutants Darren Rutherford and Tom Hesmondalgh, with Tommy Hields adding a goal.
