ACES high - that’s York City Aces who have won the North Yorkshire Netball League in style.

Crowned champions with two games still to play, the York side finished he campaign on a high by beating Harrogate-based Ferns, their principal rivals, by four points.

The team finished on 96 points out of a maximum 100, losing only one game out of 20, amassing an unassailable total of 915 goals and 13 points clear of their nearest challengers.

Thrilled by the success, captain Georgie Collinge is now looking forward to taking the girls for regional trials in Sheffield in June.

The York City Netball Club (formerly Rufforth) have four teams and a junior section and new players are welcome.

There is to be a five-week netball course at Manor Academy from Tuesday, June 30, led by qualified coaches and teachers with DBS clearance.

The course is split into juniors (Years 3 to 6) at 6.30pm, Years 7 to 9 from 7.15pm to 8pm, and seniors from 8pm to 9pm.
