EAST Yorkshire racer Guy Smith is staying with Bentley for the 2015 campaign after signing up for a second season driving their Continental GT3.

After a successful 2014 with the car, including two race wins in Europe, one win in the USA and the runner-up spot in the Blancpain Endurance Series, Beverley-born Smith will be looking to bring more victories to the British marque.

Together with team-mates Andy Meyrick and Steven Kane, Smith will race in the five rounds of the 2015 Blancpain Endurance Series with Bentley Team M-Sport.

He will start his season in one of the most gruelling endurance races in the world - Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour next month.

The 40-year-old said: “2015 will be my fifth season with Bentley Motorsport and I’m as excited as if it was my first back in 2001.

“Last year went extremely well and we surprised a lot of people with the pace of the Continental GT3 and, hopefully, we can continue our good form and do even better this year.

“Bathurst is our first race, less than a month away, and it’ll be a huge challenge as the track is daunting and I’ve never raced there before, but I can’t wait to get back in the car to restart our adventure.”

Smith returned to the top step of the podium three times in 2014, with victories at Silverstone, Paul Ricard in France and Miller Motorsports Park in Utah.

The performance of Smith and his team-mates was recognised with the award of the British Racing Drivers’ Club John Cobb Trophy, for outstanding success by British drivers in a British car.

Smith added: “Finishing the year with the runners’ up trophy from the Blancpain Series and the John Cobb Trophy was very special to me.

“I’m training hard so that I’m ready for the start of the upcoming season, because I’m so hungry to do even better this year."
