NEW Earswick Indoor Bowls Club took 12 points from an amazing victory over Harrogate in Yorkshire League division two.

At New Earswick, Dennis Ellis, Gary Stockton, Andrew Fothergill and skip Brian Gray were all square at 6-6 after seven ends.

They won six of the next seven ends to lead 15-7 after 14 ends en route to a 21-15 win.

The game ended after 20 ends as the four hours was up due to ten ends being killed in the rink. Harrogate won the killings 6-4.

In the other home rink, Graham Lockwood, Bob Barrett, Ralph Tiplady and Bill Waldie were 11-1 down after five ends, but fought back well to trail 16-15 after 14 ends.

They only picked up three more singles to lose 25-18.

In the games at Harrogate, Paul Murray, Colin Ellis D Sykes and Colin Pickup dropped a six at the fourth end to go 9-3 down.

They were behind until picking up a four at the 13th end and a three at the 17th end to level at 18-18. Harrogate picked up four shots to Earswick's three at the last four ends to win 22-21.

In the final rink, Bob Elliot, Dave Kermode, Barry Johnson and Mick Head took a small lead early on and were never behind as they won 22-16.

In division three, New Earswick’s 'B' team lost 16-2 against North Cave 'B'.

The rink of Pat Inwood, John Snowden, Bruce Dobson and Gary Jones were losing 16-7 after 11 ends, but won eight of the last ten ends to triumph 20-19.

The other home rink of Allister Domville, Martin Stubbs, Dave Hutchinson and Brian Birch led 11-2 after eight ends, but were 13-11 down four ends later.

In the remaining nine ends, Earswick picked up four singles to Cave's ten shots to lose 23-15.

At North Cave, the Earswick rink of Gordon Fratson, Brian Hardcastle, Dave Moorhouse and skip Gordon Storey scored ten shots but still found themselves 14-10 down after seven ends.

They rallied a little in the middle but lost the last five ends to go down 27-18.

In the final rink, Joe Barker, Barry Shipley, Brian Hutton and Dave Firn were 12-3 up after nine ends.

They lost the next six ends to lead by one shot before heading into the last end at 19-19, where they dropped a single to lose 20-19.

New Earswick lost 80-72 to Hornsea in the Egham Trophy.

At home, Kath Sykes, Moyra Headley, Dave Sykes and Colin Pickup lost 22-13, while Kath Hardcastle, Monika Morgan, Gordon Storey and Brian Gray came from behind to win ten out of 12 ends in a 27-15 victory.

On the east coast, Pat Walker, Carol Williams, Barry Johnson and Andrew Fothergill led 22-5 after 15 ends en route to a 23-12 success.

The final rink of Sally Domville, Norma Davies, Dave Elcock and Mick Head lost 31-9.

Yorkshire Seniors entertain Lincolnshire at New Earswick today at 12.30pm.
