SPORTS clubs in York are being invited to attend a free Active York forum on funding and grants.

The Benenden Health-backed event is being held at York Sports Club in Shipton Road on Thursday, November 27, from 7pm to 8.30pm.

Active York, the city’s community sport and active leisure partnership, have lined up a series of guests to speak about issues relating to club finances.

York Acorn ARLC’s Alan Havercroft will talk about his experiences applying for grants to fund the club’s Thanet Road improvement and development plans.

Sarah Stephenson, of North Yorkshire Sport, will present information on the range of funding options available to clubs, including Sportivate and Satellite Clubs Fund.

LocalGiving’s Nick Dodd will detail how his organisation aims to help charitable organisations connect with supporters, fundraise online and take control of their future.

Nick Settle, of City of York Council’s sport and active leisure department, will talk about the benefits of Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) status, and planned changes to the scheme.

Booking is not essential but organisers have asked anyone interested in attending to email sportandactiveleisure@york.gov.uk or phone 01904 553377 as a guide to numbers.
