ACOMB continued their unbeaten start to the York Conservative Clubs’ Faber Shield Billiards League with a 4-2 success at Heworth.

Gary Rogers got the hosts off to a perfect start with breaks of 80 and 53 in his triumph over Acomb’s Barry Manson.

Mark Winskill (35 break) followed up just edging out Richard Lillie 150-147 to give Heworth a 2-0 lead.

Acomb’s revival was led by Paul Holmes (20 break) with a comfortable win over Darren Clark, then Trevor Ventress levelled the match by beating Carl Pasquale 150-132.

Mick Borg completed the comeback with a 150-115 victory over Keith Watkinson, also giving Acomb the aggregate point in a 4-2 win.

Fulford entertained Bootham and gained a very good win 5-1, with an emphatic win on the aggregate point of 748-607.

James Lee set the ball rolling as he won 150-125 over Ian Robinson, then Wayne Puleston ran out a 150-112 winner against Ken Taylor.

Alan Reed had a good 150-117 win over Alf Appleby, then Terry Ward made the score 4-0 to Fulford with breaks of 31, 31, 26 and 28 against Tim Fillingham (26 break).

However, Bob Plant failed to make it a clean sweep when he lost 150-148 to Paul Mahoney when only needing to pot the red. He missed, leaving Mahoney two easy pots for victory.
