ACOMB have recorded back to back wins in the York Conservative Clubs' Faber Shield Billiards League.

Acomb were 4-2 winners at Bootham 'B' and then followed up with a 4-2 victory over reigning champions Fulford.

Hosts Bootham 'B' quickly slipped two frames down as Acomb pair Richard Lillie and Mick Borg both won to give their side a 93-point aggregate lead.

Paul Mahoney and Ian Robinson fought back to win for Bootham, but they could only reduce the deficit by 24 points.

That deficit proved too great as Paul Holmes won the last frame by 57 points to seal Acomb's 4-2 victory.

Against Fulford, Acomb raced into a 3-0 lead with wins from Borg, Trevor Ventress and Lillie, who had to hold off Terry Ward, who had breaks of 23, 24, 25 and 34.

Fulford hit back with Alan Reed and Bob Plant winning the last two frames, but they could not secure enough points to take the aggregate point.

Bootham 'A' have resigned from the billiards league due to a shortage of players.
