THE biggest draw in domestic football awaits – and that’s the incentive that could inflame or deflate Leeds United tonight.

Well out in front of the Coca-Cola One rankings, Leeds can forget all about their promotion push to focus on tonight’s FA Cup second round replay at home to Blue Square Premier outfit Kettering Town.

Up for grabs for the winners of the Elland Road tie is a trip to the Old Trafford citadel of Premier League champions Manchester United in the first weekend of the New Year.

The best possible way to kick-start 2010 is a dream, however, that not only will Leeds cherish. Also inspired will be cash-strapped Kettering, whose heroics forced the replay after the spirited 1-1 draw at Rockingham Road.

Before the mid-point of that tie Leeds should have been over home and hosed. But a stack of missed chances enabled the Poppies to take heart and seize the lead before Jermaine Beckford’s 14th goal of the season necessitated a second duel.

Leeds will have to be on their guard against any possible cup upset, especially with such an immense incentive beckoning, a warning reinforced by midfielder Micky Doyle.

He said: “We have been on a great run, but we have to be cautious. We can’t get carried away because we have some massive games coming up.”

None will be more colossal than resuming hostilities against their Mancunian foes.
