Tresor Kandol staked his claim for a starting role in Leeds United’s’ live televised Monday game with Norwich City after bagging a brace for the reserves.

Kandol’s first-half goals set Leeds up nicely before Hartlepool United struck back to take a share of the points.

Strike partner Enoch Showunmi also featured and provided the assist for Kandol’s second, his fourth reserve goal in three games.

Andy Robinson, however, is a doubt for the home Coca-Cola League One clash, as a suspected hamstring injury forced him off just before half-time.

United defender Lubo Michalik will be looking to celebrate his international call-up for Slovakia by preventing Norwich top scorer Grant Holt from increasing his tally of six goals for the season.

Michalik was part of the Slovakia squad that beat Poland 1-0, meaning his side have now qualified for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Revived Norwich surged into sixth place after beating Carlisle 1-0 last Tuesday, and now occupy the final play-off position.

Leeds are currently two points clear of promotion rivals Charton Athletic and will be looking to capitalise on Athletic’s goalless home draw with Oldham, by increasing the gap between themselves and second place.
