LEADING scorer Jermaine Beckford is back to spearhead Leeds United’s double-pronged assault on the Coca-Cola League One play-off zone.

The 23-goal striker is back from suspension in time for tomorrow’s Elland Road showdown with promotion rivals Scunthorpe United (3pm), while Oldham Athletic will host the Whites in a televised clash on Monday (7.45pm).

As Beckford, pictured, returns to the starting line-up, Argentinian frontman Luciano Becchio misses out as he serves a one-match ban.

Skipper Frazer Richardson and Andrew Hughes are also likely to be sidelined through injury.

While Jonathan Douglas may again fill in at right-back, Ben Parker is likely to continue in the left-back spot following Carl Dickinson’s return to Stoke City.

Of his return to the side in recent weeks, Parker said: “The new manager has given me confidence and says it’s my shirt to lose now, so it’s down to me.

“I thought I’d run over a black cat when I lost my place the first time.

“I felt I didn’t do anything wrong, but it’s up to me now to try to keep my place in the team.”

The youngster knows that helping United to back-to-back wins over the next three days would be a good start.

“If we can get six points this weekend, we will be buzzing,” he said.

“Three points tomorrow would give us added confidence going into the Oldham game on Monday.

“We need to go on a run where we can get some wins. Second place is still up for grabs at this stage because teams are dropping points.”
