Leeds United chairman Ken Bates has rejected two approaches from Barclays Premier League sides for midfield prospect Fabian Delph.

The 19-year-old has won rave reviews since breaking into the Coca-Cola League One club’s first team this season and has been heavily linked with a move to the top flight.

He also recently made his England Under-21 debut.

Bates said: “We explained to both clubs that we don’t deal in petty cash – they were Premier League clubs as well.

“We don’t want to sell Fabian. He’s happy, we’re happy for him to stay and unless something unexpected out of the blue happens which we can’t forecast we want him to take us back into the Premier League.”
