LOAN signing Richard Naylor is desperate to help rekindle Leeds United’s promotion dream in Coca-Cola League One.

The 31-year-old Ipswich Town centre-back has returned to the club where he started out as a Centre of Excellence prospect and immediately set out his main priority.

“The main thing is helping us win some games and get up the table,” said Naylor. “We have to string some wins together and get up the league.”

Naylor, also a former Leeds City Schoolboys player, has made more than 300 appearances for the Tractor Boys.

However, he dropped out of Jim Magilton’s first team at Portman Road in mid-December and is keen to nail down a regular starting role at Elland Road.

Naylor is in the Leeds squad for tomorrow’s trip to Brighton along with fellow loan signing Carl Dickinson, the Stoke defender who is also on a one-month deal.

Naylor added: “The gaffer at Ipswich rang me and told me about Leeds. I’m not sure he would have said anything if it hadn’t been Leeds, but he knows what I think about the club.

“I was made up when he told me. It was still a big decision – it took me ten seconds to decide. I’ve still got some family up here and they are as pleased as me.”

Meanwhile, fellow new boy Lee Trundle scored for Leeds in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Darlington in midweek.

Also featuring in the 1-1 share-all were midfielders Jonny Howson, David Prutton and Neil Kilkenny.
