MICHAEL HEELS was the goal hero as Skelton booked their place in the Ian’s Cars of Barlby Sunday Morning Football League Senior Challenge Trophy final.

Gary Smith had put Skelton ahead against Severus, and, after Mark Woodward equalised, Heels struck a late winner.

Wanderers reached the final as second-half goals from Gary New-ton, Kevin Butler, Louis Howarth and Darren Brandon saw them beat Derwent United 4-2. Dave Bradshaw hit a double for Derwent.

Acomb WMC reached the Junior Challenge Trophy final by beating Bishopthorpe 4-1.

Three goals in ten minutes, from Neil Ducey (2) and Steve Cross, put Acomb 3-1 up at the break. Bishops gradually got back in the game but a brilliant penalty save from Matty Stables maintained Acomb’s advantage, and Anthony Evans wrapped things up.

Holders St John’s beat Britannia Tadcaster 2-1 in the other semi-final thanks to a last-minute strike from James Sharp.

Scott McKenzie had put them ahead in the first half but they were made to work hard in the second. Britannia also missed a penalty before John Sebine equalised.

In division one, a cheeky lob from the edge of the area by George Wojik gave Selby Olympia a 3-2 victory over Enterprise.

Leon Wood’s 30-yard and James Simpson’s header had put them 2-0 up at half-time, with Enterprise hitting back through Danny Penrose and Phil Hartley.

Acomb Celtic top division two after beating Albion Vaults 6-2. On target were Sean Stockdale (2), Lee Powell (2), Stuart Nichols and Joe Woof, Albion replying through a John Carter penalty and Chris Harkin.

A hat-trick from Tom Coates was not enough to stop Wigginton Grasshoppers’ winning run ending with a 4-3 loss to York Nomads, who took the points with goals from Nick Rank, Andy Horner, Nat Bradley and Craig Hargreaves.

Cueball beat Marcia Grey 4-2 with goals from Dave Chapman, Rob Collier, Amos Laverack and Tom Wheatland, Carl Stewart hitting both Marcia replies.

Hambleton got back to winning ways as goals from Paul Tiffany and Galen Hill plus a penalty from ’keeper Graeme Parker gave them a 3-1 win over Acorn FC. John Tattersfield replied.

Prolific scorer Gary Collier struck four times as title favourites Station built a four-point gap at the top of division three with a 7-0 win over Hambleton Lions. Steve Lyon, Jack Guest and Pete Minto also netted.

In division four north, Hemingbrough, with goals from Guy May, Matty Zacharenko and substitute Phil Wood (2), beat Cueball reserves 4-0.

Substitute Chris Gibson hit a hat-trick to help Dynamo Megahorse beat Forest FC 7-3. Also on target were Danny Langan, James Edmonson (2) and an own goal.

In division four south, New Earswick’s continued their winning run by brushing aside LNER Builders 6-1. James Ashton (2), Mike Holmes (2), Lee Quickmire and Dave Main gave Fox FC a 6-4 win over Huntsman, who replied through Rich Hunnahall (2), Mike Light and Ross McLeod.
