Paul Hanagan returns to his home course at Haydock tomorrow evening and is fancied to keep his supporters happy by completing a double.

The dual champion jockey, below, who recently moved from his long-time Malton base to take up residence at Newmarket after securing the plum job of retained jockey to Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum, will pull on the Maktoum colours aboard Ribaat and Aazif.

Ribaat has yet to make a public appearance, but he hails from the powerful Roger Varian stable and is a well-bred colt by Invicible Spirit.

The runners with experience in the Jay Buxton Strides Equestrian 21st Celebration Irish Maiden Stakes do not look up to much, and it would come as no surprise if Ribaat makes a winning debut.

Aazif, trained in Sussex by John Dunlop, has run only three times this season, but he has shaped well each time, not least when finishing second at Newmarket a fortnight ago. The Liverpool ONE Handicap looks a good target for him.

Richard Fahey, Hanagan’s former boss, can also figure on the Haydock scoresheet with Ingleby Royale in the Countrywide Freight Nursery.

Tony Hamilton’s mount, a winner at Beverley on her debut, ran well in a Listed race at York next time before disappointing slightly in soft ground at Newcastle on her third start.

She has had ten weeks break since then and now ventures into handicap company off what looks to be a fair mark. Furthermore, the step up to six furlongs should suit her.

Burke’s Rock should go well in the BetVictor.com Fillies’ Handicap.

A dual-winner earlier in the campaign, Jeremy Noseda’s three-year-old finished second to the useful Jacob Cats at Sandown on her latest start. A reproduction of that form may be good enough to win this event, with Richard Hughes on board.

Tickle Time is held in some regard in David Barron’s Maunby yard near Thirsk and the juvenile is selected to make it two wins from three outings in the British Stallion Studs Chris Fayle Memorial Novice Stakes.

A well-backed winner on his debut at Ayr, Tickle Time was beaten a whisker by Unsinkable in a Doncaster novice last time. He steps up to seven furlongs this time and is taken to get back in the winning groove.

Barron can also make an impact with one of his two-year-olds at Musselburgh, courtesy of Cosmic Chatter in the British Stallion Studs Conditions Stakes.

A Haydock winner on his debut, Cosmic Chatter was then thrown in at the deep end at Royal Ascot and was not disgraced in the Windsor Castle Stakes. He should take plenty of beating.

The opening SLI Maiden Stakes may not take much winning and Multisure has shown enough ability in two starts, despite looking a little green and raw. Richard Fahey’s youngster may be able to make it third-time-lucky.

Fahey’s Arley Hall just came unstuck last time out at Ayr and goes again in the Cornhill Builders Handicap. But the filly may again have to settle for minor honours behind Brian Ellison’s Fine Kingdom, a Beverley winner recently. A 6lb penalty may not be enough to halt Barry McHugh’s mount.

Also worth noting in Scotland is nap selection Sohcahtoa (3.30), slightly unlucky on the course last week, and Green Howard (4.00), a good second at Doncaster last time, who represents Wetherby trainer Robin Bastiman in the feature race on the Musselburgh card.
