Paul Hanagan is back from a flying visit to Dubai and he returns to action at a considerably colder Wolverhampton today, but he can stay warm by completing a treble.

Malton’s much-celebrated champion jockey, who had to settle for a fourth-place finish on Glen’s Diamond as the best of his two mounts at Meydan last Friday, is fancied to score on Bond Style, Mcconnell and Gabrial’s King.

Bond Style, trained at Hambleton by Bryan Smart, showed his well-being at Southwell last week when chasing home the favourite Kickingthelilly in maiden company.

He runs in a similar sphere this afternoon and, provided he can cope with this slower Polytrack surface, he should take plenty of beating.

Mcconnell, who runs in a handicap, is also switching from Fibresand to Polytrack.

He was a winner at Southwell in the opening days of last month, and has since twice finished fourth on the same course, the latest being over a mile-and-a-half, a distance beyond his best.

Back to an extended mile here, he should go well for Hanagan who rounds off with an even better mount on Gabrial’s King in the concluding handicap.

The Ian Williams-trained three-year-old won here two starts ago but went down by a length to Luctor Emergo on his latest visit.

Luctor Emergo takes him on again, but he is burdened this time with a 6lb penalty and that may be enough for Gabrial’s King to take his revenge.

Dale Swift, last season’s Ebor-winning rider, has good prospects of taking the opening honours aboard Shawkantango, who may have been an unlucky loser at Southwell last week.

The gelding went down by a nose to No Mean Trick after Swift had his whip knocked out of his hand inside the final furlong.

Compensation awaits him today.

At Kempton tomorrow, Norton jockey James Sullivan makes the journey south to join forces with Spartilla (5.00) for trainer James Given.

Sullivan posted a three-length win on the three-year-old on this course last time.

It would be no surprise to see the combination score again.

Discoverer (4.30) looks an interesting runner in handicap company for John Gosden after winning at Lingfield last time out.

That was Discoverer’s second career start and his first since the turn of the year.

There promises to be more to come from him and, with Nicky Mackay in the saddle, he is napped to follow up.

The in-form Lady Caprice (3.25) and old-timer Dickie Le Davoir (5.30) are two others to note.
