New Guinea, an impressive winner at Pontefract last Sunday, turns out again at Chester tomorrow and is napped to follow up.

Michael Jarvis's progressive three-year-old scored with something to spare by three lengths on his latest outing, which came hot on the heels of a cracking second-placed effort behind Numeric at Goodwood.

A 3lb penalty tomorrow is unlikely to prove enough of an anchor to halt New Guinea's progress and he promises to prove hard to beat in the betterbetcorbett Chester Handicap, which boasts £38,000 in prize money.

In the Raymond Corbett Handicap, it would be unwise to overlook the chances of Uhoomagoo, Kevin Ryan's magnificently tough money-spinner.

The eight-year-old, a Royal Ascot winner during the summer, has since run two good races in defeat, the latest being a fourth-placed effort at Galway, where he was poorly drawn, but he stayed on like a terrier in the closing stages to finish on the heels of the principals.

He has not fared that well with the draw, either tomorrow, but he is such a talented performer in handicap company that it is not difficult seeing him coming home strong and late.

Alan Brown is enjoying a terrific run from his base just outside Malton, and the former jump-jockey saddles the in-form Blue Maeve in the betterbetcorbett Handicap.

The sprinter has won his last four starts and, provided he can overcome his wide draw over this five furlongs, he is expected to take plenty of catching.
