Looking for a horse who revels in the mud in tomorrow's Nunthorpe Stakes?

Then look no further than Reverence, who is napped to win this £200,000 sprinting showpiece, sponsored by VC Bet.

The mount of Kevin Darley, who has struck-up such a wonderful association with him, Reverence has really come into his own in the last 12 months, proving himself particularly effective on soft ground, which he is virtually guaranteed tomorrow.

Trained by Eric Alston, Reverence, a horse who fractured his pelvis as a youngster, proved a prolific winner last autumn and has since held his own in much stronger company.

Winner of the Temple Stakes in May, he was badly drawn when subequently unplaced in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot.

On his latest start, in the Champagne Sprint at Sandown, he finished a close fifth to Pivotal Point on unsuitably quick ground.

With conditions much more suitable tomorrow, Reverence is fancied to produce a career-best performance by beating the likes of the in-form Moss Vale, trained by David Nicholls; Kevin Ryan's Amadeus Wolf, winner of the Gimcrack here last year; and the lightly-weighted Enticing, the unbeaten juvenile trained by William Haggas, who recently won the Molecomb Stakes at Goodwood.

Richard Fahey has good prospects of a double.

The Malton trainer saddles Fishforcompliments, who gets the vote to hit the jackpot in the £300,000 St Leger Yearling Stakes.

The youngster took a while to grasp what was required before winning decisively at Haydock last time.

He is open to any amount of further improvement and, although unproven on easy ground, he looks an exciting prospect.

Fahey also has good prospects with Bolodenka in the Addleshaw Goddard Handicap.

The four-year-old struck form with a vengeance recently, winning twice in a matter of days at the Galway Festival.

There may be more to come from him.

The Jaguar Cars Lowther Stakes offers Scarlet Runner the chance to hit the glory heights of Group 2 success.

John Dunlop's filly is progressing well and won the Princess Margaret Stakes on her latest start at Newbury.

David Chapman, based at Stillington, has every chance of lifting the City Of York Stakes with Quito, who will relish the rain-softened ground.

With Tony Culhane - his regular rider - on the injured list, Quito will be partnered by champion jockey Jamie Spencer, who is the type of confident jockey to get the best of this hold-up performer.

Tim Easterby's Somnus, although not the horse he once was, is another who will enjoy underfoot conditions, and may be the one to give Quito most to do.

John Oxx won last year's EBF Galtres Stakes with Kastoria and the Curragh trainer may be able to follow-up with the promising Zarwala, while the in-form Trick Or Treat, winner of her last four starts, can complete a five-timer in the Brilliant Media Melrose Handicap, the final race of the Ebor Festival.
